Wind markets
Each contract pays one dollar if the station’s strongest wind for the day is above its threshold. The map carries the wind each station’s ladder is centred on for the day selected: the strike where the exchange’s Yes price crosses fifty cents. A station with no board open yet carries an estimate instead, drawn as an outlined dot, which gives way to the exchange’s prices the moment the contract lists.

Contract Details
- The contract settles on the single largest value across the sustained wind and gust columns for the
station and date, in whole miles per hour, strictly above the threshold.
- The peak wind remark a report can carry is not in the settlement table and does not settle the
contract.
- Trading runs to 11:59 PM local on the contract date. The contract is not subject to early resolution, so
a threshold the day has already cleared stays open until then.
- Resolution comes when the station’s first gust observation for the next day is published.
- Settlement reads Weather Underground’s Daily Observations table for the station and date.
- Readings here come from the aviation weather feed, the same station reports read through a different
publisher. Stations report whole knots, so the page converts at 1.15078 miles per hour to the knot, rounds
half up, and shows the knots beside it.
- Average wind speed contracts settle on the day’s average and are listed separately.
